10,000 miles of pot-holes, bandits and dodgy suspension…

.... Oh, and it’s all for charity!!!

On July 11th 2009 four people in two 4x4’s will set off on what is billed as “the last great adventure”-

A trip from London to UlaanBaatar the capital Mongolia, all in the aid of charity.

There will be loads of teams there, as of November 2007, there are 63 teams signed up for the 2008 rally.

The reason we have chosen 2009 is all purely down to personal circumstances making it impossible for 2008.

The route chosen by the team will go from London to Newcastle, then a ferry across to Norway, travel up Norway into the Arctic Circle, then down through Sweden and Finland, before entering Russia and Siberia, for over a week of Russian Roads before entering Mongolia.  Once in Mongolia, the route will be up along the north territories, as this will be the most challenging route with either very dodgy roads or no road at all, until the team eventually reaches UlaanBaatar.

There will be no support vehicles, everything will be carried by the vehicles taking part, - carrying everything from water to vehicle spares.  Until Mongolia the journey will mostly be on roads of varying condition, but when in Mongolia its pot luck if there will be roads at all.  The Mongolian leg will involve off road driving, river crossings, and more than likely, a puncture or two and getting stuck!!

At the end of it all, the vehicles will be given to the charities out in Mongolia, so they will benefit from a decent useable vehicle that can handle the terrain, as well as hopefully a decent amount of money raised by us from kind people such as yourself.

Along with the Mongolian charities, we are also supporting two local charities, The East Anglian Air Ambulance & St Elizabeth Hospice.

Further details can be got from their website, see our charities page for the links.

Our target is to raise £10,000 to share between the charities.. It's a high target but we're not going until July 2009 so there is plenty of time and with some effort by us and some help from you, we can smash the target and raise even more!!!

The three founding members are all ex Royal Anglian soldiers “Vikings”, hence the choice of team name.  With plenty of off road driving experience, and all seeing active service overseas as drivers in the RLC, we will be more than capable of rising to any challenges the journey has to throw at us.

We are looking for sponsors and financers to help us with the rally itself, and donations to go to the charities, either from individuals or from companies.

Each vehicle will have plenty of space for logos and adverts, and we also have this website up and running.

What you will get in return is a mention/advert on the website, companies will get the same as well as some signage on a vehicle.  Size and position will be up for negotiation dependant on the size of donation/contribution.  As we are not going until 2009, any company logo's will get plenty of exposure as we will be travelling around with it going to shows and events, to get as much exposure as we can.

Each vehicle will be carrying a video camera and a stills camera and a DVD will be edited at the end of the rally and sent out to various companies to further the exposure that the sponsors get.  Media coverage is getting bigger every year and as such sponsors will get coverage too.

Each vehicle will be fitted with a tracker, so you can look anytime day or night and see how we are progressing.

We are hoping to secure a deal with a T.V company and/or a newspaper so that we can report for them during the course of the rally.

Any further/more detailed information can be got from Andy on any of the ways detailed in the contact page or just click the email button.

We are willing to come to any meeting you may wish, to discuss things in person, but please remember we are not professionals, we are just trying to get as much as we can to help as much as we can.
